Foundation’s mission and funding goals
The mission of the Harry Chapin Foundation is to support organizations that have demonstrated their ability to dramatically improve the lives and livelihood of people by helping them to become self-sufficient.
We will fund only 501(c)(3) not for profit programs that operate in the United States that fall within the areas of:
- Arts-In-Education Programs
- Community Education Programs
- Agricultural and Environmental Programs
Harry Chapin was loved for his songs like Cat’s In the Cradle, Taxi and WOLD.
But it was a brief pause during his countless concerts that turned fans into a force for good. He pitched to the crowd that together they can make the world a better place by taking action.
Then he led by example by dedicating half of his concerts as fundraisers. Lobbying for hunger-relief legislation. Supporting arts programs at the community level. Founding several organizations to help fight poverty and hunger.
Harry believed everybody could make a difference. How about you? The Harry Chapin Foundation now continues his mission. We hope you join the parade!
